Whalon Lake Forest Preserve in Naperville, Illinois is a peaceful escape for anyone who loves the outdoors. This 2.1-mile paved trail wraps around the lake, offering beautiful views, the path is nicely paved and is perfect for walking, running or biking; kayaking, and fishing. It’s also dog-friendly, with a large fenced dog park where dogs can play off-leash. Whalon Lake is one of the most scenic forest preserves in the southwest suburbs — perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and weekend adventurers.

I use 35mm because it is pure magic! The grain… who doesn’t love film grain. Shooting film expands my mind in terms of composition and it hits you so hard with a visceral memory. You never know what you are going to get and there’s so many happy accidents. It is the best!

McKee Marsh at Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warenville, Illinois has a great 3+ mile long trail for hiking, biking and running. A great spot for birding!
